If I had a cupboard in which to keep my poetry, it might look something like this …

.
Of course, that wouldn't really fit with my other furniture, but you get the general idea ...
Anyway, I'm not the story-teller that my friend
Fairweather Lewis is, but I do love a good story, and from time to time, a good poem, although I do not consider myself an expert on either. You know that I'm all about the pictures, of course, so I figure that what I can bring to the things I post is some visual interest. I've tried it recently with a couple of poems, including one about hummingbirds, and I've decided I like the idea. The next post after this is my attempt to add a little visual snap to a poem by American author
Richard Brautigan, whose understated and surprisingly gentle prose and poetry was often meant as satire, parody, or black comedy. In this post, I’ve taken the liberty of substituting Japanese koi for Brautigan’s catfish because … well, have YOU ever googled “catfish” and seen what incredibly unappealing pictures come up?
Didn’t think so.
