“The splendor of the rose and the whitness of the lily do not rob the little violet of its scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness.” ~ Therese of Lisieux

To get from the US Highway to the cottage where we are currently vacationing, we take a road that passes several fields full of daisies that look almost exactly like this ... snow-like drifts of flowers among the tall summer grasses. Sometimes interspersed with hawkweed, buttercups, and lead plant, oxeye or
marguerite daisies are almost everywhere right now, from the fields to the roadsides. Simple charm, indeed.

With little here to do or see
Of things that in the great world be,
Sweet Daisy! oft I talk to thee,
For thou art worthy,
Thou unassuming commonplace
Of Nature, with that homely face,
And yet with something of a grace
Which Love makes for thee! ....
~ William Wordsworth (To the Daisy)
