The other day we were discussing the English artist JMW Turner, who is sometimes -- and aptly -- called "painter of light." This painting by Turner is called Strange Sun After Rain. Fairweather Lewis has been wishing for rain in her area; we have more than enough here, but rain is hard to share. So, this is my way of wishing for Fairweather that she gets the rain her area needs so badly.

For those of you who enjoy natural wonders, here's a real treat. Mt. Kilauea on the island of Hawaii, considered by some to be the world's most active volcano, erupted just a few days ago ....



Talk about really real fireworks.

Welcome back to reality. Now I remember why I went on vacation in the first place. After a really crummy commute on the freeway this morning, I need a little something just because. On the Monday after a holiday weekend, we could probably all use a little something just because.

We're headed home today, but I wanted to post one last picture showing how the sunlight sparkles off the lake. We don't have mountains in the background, but the feeling is similar. Imagine that the figure on the dock is my daughter, trying to reel in the big one.
