Today seems like a day for posting songs. Listening to music helps me concentrate at work. Corinne Bailey Rae's Like a Star is one of my favorite songs from the last couple of years. In a way it reminds me of people you meet through blogging ... just like an angel off the page ... you have appeared to my life ... feel like I'll never be the same. If you don't know her, Corinne Bailey Rae is a real treat, and this is four minutes VERY well spent.
A while back I posted Don McLean's recording of Vincent. Something I read the other day reminded me of another one of my favorite McLean songs ... And I Love You So. I hadn't heard it in quite a while, even though I think it's one of the best love songs EVER. While I was thinking of it, and posting songs, I thought I would share it. This delicate version is animated with very interesting drawings.
I'd hate for my White Diamonds post to give anyone the idea that I'm a "material girl." Heck, diamonds aren't even my favorite gemstone, but my love for gems comes not from any obsessive desire to wear them or possess them, but rather from an appreciation of their beauty and the natural processes that created their wonders. So, to make that point clear, let me borrow this thought from the Beatles.
“There is an idea abroad among moral people that they should make their neighbors good. One person I have to make good: myself. ~ Robert Louis Stevenson
